Meet Ally

Hi my Daisies,

I am a preteen age and have a lot of interests. I am a gymnast which is a hobby and I would call it a full time sport but I am a little too young to have that going on.

My vision
My mom and dad are very supportive of me and my needs. I have Oculocutaneous Albinism (OCA) and it is a visual impairment that affects my hair, skin, and eyes. OCA is a spectrum and depends on the genes to how much it actually affects your life. This also affects my depth perception. I have 20 over 100 vision. This means that someone with perfect vision can see something perfectly fine and clear from 100 ft away. I have to stand 20 ft away to see it clearly.

Gymnastics
I have a lot of changes that have to be done in gymnastics for it to be accessible. If anyone knows anything about gymnastics the beam is 4 inches wide, so I put bright tape at each end of the beam. For bars I put bright tape on the high bar so I can see it for jumping to the bars. For the vault I use a bright yellow and green Velcro strip to know when to hurdle and for the floor I don't need anything. I am currently a level 5 and compete in all events.

Day in the life of a middle schooler.
I attend a public school with 8 different classes. I am in my second year in middle school. I have been in the same district since kindergarten. I have two favorite subjects, writing and math.

Daises?
I would like to start calling you my daises. I’ll see you next time daisies.
